Morris gets a lucky break (
February 05, 2010)
WESTFIELD Football Club's injury ravaged season has continued with a nasty ankle problem for Graham Morris.
The midfielder sustained a 2-3 inch gash right down to the bone during the first half of the 3-2 defeat at former club Sidley United on Tuesday night.
Morris, a PE teacher at William Parker Sports College, shaped to shoot from just outside the box when he felt the full force of a thunderous sliding challenge from Danny Spice.
He initially got to his feet, but quickly went down again and was stretchered off before being taken to hospital where he was due to be assessed for a possible break, but it was later confirmed then was no break and he received stitches in a gash to his ankle.
Morris was making his first appearance since December 12 because Dave Henham was suffering from a tight thigh picked up in the weekend draw with Loxwood.
Westfield are at home to East Preston tomorrow (Saturday) and away to Seaford Town on Tuesday night. Danny Woodley is expected to remain sidelined for another fortnight.
