Westies Undone By Pogue Hatrick (
February 03, 2010)
The Westies came away from a very Muddy Gullivers last night on the back of a 3-2 defeat.
All the goals came in the second period, in a game that the Westies were always chasing. Kenny Pogue was the hero for Sidley with a hatrick for the hosts.
His first came early in the second half after indecision between Dan Foster and his back four which allowed Pogue to walk the ball into an empty net, he doubled his and Sidley's lead shortly after finding a gap in a crowded penalty area to stab the ball home after a corner was only half cleared.
Now having to chase the game Warren Parsons was moved from Centre Half to Centre Forward and he immediatley got his name on the scoresheet from close range, but another poor goal from a defensive point of view allowed Sidley to score a third and again Pogue was the thorn in there side.
Westfield rallied and Matt Dadswell bundled home from close range from a pin point Peter Baker Free Kick out wide but it was to little to late. However 7 points from 12 in the last four games against three of the top four sides in the table is probably a return Messers Harris and Jones would have taken.
Next Up is East Preston's visit to the Parish Field, who were on the end of a 4-1 defeat to Worthing United last night. Kick Off on Saturday is 2.30pm.
