Westfield Football Club is confident of playing at its Parish Field home by the end of the month.
The Parishioners have had to play their home games elsewhere since their clubhouse was destroyed by fire on September 20.
Vice-chairman Kevin Baker said: "We're not too far away at all. We've got showers and toilets to go in, and then we will be up and running."
Westfield had hoped to be back at their own ground by January 2 after being asked to provide a target date by the Sussex County League and Hastings United, whose Pilot Field ground they used for four matches back in the autumn.
But the start of the new year proved unobtainable and their return was supposed to be on Saturday for a Reserve Section (East) fixture at home to Saltdean United.
Although that was always a long shot due to the weather with the Parish Field under five inches last Tuesday.
"The snow hasn't helped at all because of the problems getting materials and labour in," added Baker. "But we're not under any pressure from the
County
League, they would rather we got it right."
The Sussex County League has scheduled the first team for an away fixture at bottom side Midhurt & Easebourne this weekend with the Reserves due to return to the Parish Field at home to run away leaders Peacehaven Reserves.
