Westfield Back To Winning Ways (

The Westies returned home from Old Barn Way last night with a deserved three points after edging out Southwick 2-1 in wet and windy conditions.
While it was not a vintage performance from the visitors it was full of determination and desire which has maybe been missing recently.
There was also a change in shape to the side with a back three being employed consisting of Tom Archer, Lee Wood and Lawrence Brand. The opening goal came midway through the first half when a Jack Graham inswinging corner went straight in past the helpless Wickers keeper.
The Westies were two up within two minutes of the re-start after good interplay between Martin Brain and Warren Parsons the latters powerful shot only being paried to Matt Dadwells who bundled home from close range.
The hosts put the Westies under more pressure as the second half progressed and snatched a controversial consolation with ten minutes remaining when with both hands he slamed the ball home, a manouvre more used to being seen on a basketball court, despite the visitors protests the goal stood.
A youthful reserve side were second best against an experienced Mile Oak Reserve side in the second round of the Reserve Section League Cup Yesterday.
After a few late withdrawals manager Darrol Parris had to shuffle his pack maybe more than he would have liked, and Oak took advantage by running home victors by 9-1 Mark Dowling on his debut getting the consolation.
