26th April 2008 - Westies Edge Home In Thriller
Another game similar to the previous week where manager Steve Johnson would have been tearing his hair out at the two sides of his side, the poor defensive display especially in the first half , offset by the determination and will to win and the attacking threat which the side posses, which led to Peter Baker's 21st and 22nd league goals of the campaign.
Duncan Jones had given the visitors the lead, but two goals just before half time from the hosts led to some harsh words at half time. The introduction of Mark Drinkwater at half time tightened things up defensively and the games highlight being a trademark run from David Miller where he took on 8 Lancing players started deep in his own half before clipping it past the helpless Dan Griffin.
Just a note on facilities at Lancing, on what must have been a very difficult season for all concerned it was good to see so many comittee and club members on duty. The playing surface was excellant and next season they will have a superb new stand and changing room facilities to go with it. I am sure they will go from strength to strength nest season.
Full Match Report to Follow Shortly.

23rd April 2008 - Game Summed Up Our Season
If any game summed up Westfield's season this was it, with sublime passing and movement in the first half but two defensive howlers allowing Mile Oak back into the game and then two pieces of magic from messers Jones & Baker clinching the points the winner coming in the last minute, who would want to be a manager.
20th April 2008 - Home Campaign Ends On A High
Westfield completed there home league programme yesterday with an entertaining Mile Oak side riding high in 5th place of division two, and the form team at present.
The westies were rampant in the first half creating numerous chances the best falling to Dominic Clarke, it was he who opened the scoring on half hour following up from close range. Poor defending shortly after led to the oaks not only getting back into the game against the run of play but forcing themselves in front on half time.
Early in the second half Peter Baker notched with a dipping volley from 25 yards and Duncan Jones capped a wonderful comeback with a curling 30 yard effort a goal worthy of winning any game and fitting in Steve Johnson's last home game in charge.

19th April 2008 - Final Home Game Of Season
The Westies take on high riding Mile Oak today in this seasons last game at the Parish Field. The hosts home record has been as good as anyone in the league this season, but it is the away form that has let them down in there quest for successive top three finishes.
The game also marks the last as manager of Steve Johnson who announced after the midweek defeat to Wealden that he was stepping down after 11 years at the club, 5 1/2 as manager.
Carl Morris definatley misses the game with a foot injury after coming off in midweek half way through the first half. Duncan Jones faces a late fitness test on the groin injury which has kept him out of the past three games. Will Toal returns to the squad after being unavailable midweek.
Kick Off at the Parish Field is 3pm, so why not catch the first team in action at home for the last time.
First Team Squad for Todays Game:- Tom Dullaway,Will Toal, Tony Harris, David Miller, Paul Henty, Jamie Podmore, Matt Dadswell, Alan Johnson, Shaun Smith, Chris Smith, Lawrence Brand, Sam Jamsion, Graham Morris, Duncan Jones, Peter Baker, Dominic Clarke, Shaun Hardy.

17th April 2008 - Johnson To Step Down
STEVE Johnson is to stand down as Westfield manager at the end of the season after 11 years at the club.
Johnson has decided to take a break from football after overseeing the most successful period in Westfield’s 81-year history.
He said: "It’s something I’ve thought about as the season’s gone on really. I need a break from it. It’s very time consuming. It’s not just Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, it’s more than that really.
"I’ve enjoyed the football side of it and I’ve got an awful lot of time for the club. The reason I’ve done it now is to give the club time to see who else they would want to appoint."
Johnson was assistant manager to Shaun Hardy when The Parishioners were first admitted into the Sussex County League at the start of the 1997-98 campaign.
The village outfit won the Hastings & District FA Intermediate Cup that term before going on to secure a runners-up finish and with it promotion into senior football for the first time a year later.
Johnson took sole charge following the resignation of Hardy midway through the 2002-03 season and the club has continued to outshine others with greater resources.
Westfield have become a regular fixture in the upper echelons of Division Two, achieving their highest ever placing of third last May when they were denied promotion due to ground constraints.
They clinched their first ever senior trophy last week by virtue of edging out higher grade Sidley United in the Hastings & District FA Senior Cup Final.
Johnson’s side was runners-up in the same competition in 2002-03 and 2005-06, as well as the Division Two Challenge Cup in 2002-03.
He informed club chairman Graham Drinkwater of his decision on Thursday, last week, and told the players after the 2-0 defeat at Wealden on Tuesday night.
His final three games will be at home to Mile Oak on Saturday away to Lancing next Saturday (April 26) and away to East Grinstead Town on Wednesday April 30.
Drinkwater added: "I’ve got nothing but praise for him and can’t thank him enough for what he’s done. Not at all did I imagine the club would enjoy the success it’s had when it first entered the league."
The chairman went on to state that he has already spoken to a possible successor and has one or two more irons in the fire.
The WFC website and players echoe the views of the chairmen and wish Johno all the best in whatever ge decides to do in the future.

16th April 2008 - Lacklustre Display At The Oaks
The Westies produced arguably there worst performance of the season last night when they went down 2-0 against a work man like but ordinary Wealden side who were a shadow of the side that visited the Parish Field back on Boxing Day.
One of the only bright spots of the evening was the performance of 16 year old Goalkeeper Tom Dullaway who showed what massive potential he has with a mature assured display. Another bright spot for the visitors was the display of the unlucky Matt Dadswell who despite impressing received his marching orders for a professional foul with 10 mins to go oh his full debut for the club.
This defeat means it is highly unlikely that the Westies will record a top six finish, in a season that promised so much.

15th April 2008 - Westies Travel To Wealden Tonight
Steve Johnson's men travel to Wealden this evening looking to exact revenge for the 5-2 drubbing at the Parish Field in the reverse league fixture back on Boxing Day. The players will be champing at the bit following Saturday's last minute postponement against champions East Grinstead.
Wealden are a much changed side from the last meeting following the resignation of the much respected Andy Gander in January. Wealden's form since then has been patchy although there most recent outing Saturday saw them overcome relegated Pease Pottage 4-1.
Johnson has a number of injury worries, Duncan Jones, Danny Pepper & Ben Ridgeway are definatley out and Graham Morris faces a late fitness test on an ankle injury. Will Toal is unavailable to due work comitments so Tom Dullaway comes into the squad. Paul Henty is doubtful due to personal reasons.
Kick Off at The Oaks tonight is 7:45pm
First Team Squad for Tonights Game:- Tom Dullaway, Tony Harris, David Miller, Carl Morris, Paul Henty, Jamie Podmore, Matt Dadswell, Alan Johnson, Shaun Smith, Chris Smith, Lawrence Brand, Sam Jamsion, Graham Morris, Peter Baker, Dominic Clarke, Shaun Hardy.

12th April 2008 - Trip To Champions Postponed
Todays league game at newly crowned champions East Grinstead has been postponed at the last minute following a heavy down pour at the East Court Ground.
Referee Pete Lindsey turned up at 2pm and deemed the pitch unplayable despite some Westfield players being stripped and beggining there warm up.
Next up for the Westies is a trip to Wealden in the league on tuesday evening. Kick off is 7:45pm
11th April 2008 - Johnson Looks To Build On Cup Success
Westfield travel to league champions East Grinstead tomorrow looking to finish campaign on a high and try and beat there highest points total of 59 which they obtained last year. Kick off at East Court is 3pm.
Confidence will be high following the midweek Hastings Senior Cup win over division one Sidley United. There are injury problems following that defeat, Graham Morris and Duncan Jones definatley miss out and Chris Smith is a doubt.
Paul Henty also misses out following the birth of his and his partners twins. Paul Oliver, Shaun Smith and assistant boss Steve Hardy are added to the squad from midweek.
First Team Squad for East Grinstead game:- Will Toal, Tony Harris, David Miller, Jamie Podmore, Carl Morris, Matt Dadswell, Alan Johnson, Chris Smith, Lawrence Brand, Sam Jamsion, Dominic Clarke, Peter Baker, Paul Oliver, Shaun Hardy, Shaun Smith.
Both the thirds and reserves have no game tomorrow. To read Manager Steve Johnson's and Skipper Tony Harris's views on the historical lifting of the Hastings senior cup on Wednesday night click on the links below.

11th April 2008 - Presentation Night Confirmed
The final details for this years presentation evening have now been confirmed. The date is Saturday the 10th May starting at 7:30pm. The venue is the same as last year, Venue M which is located in the heart of Hastings Old Town.
There will be a buffet and disco as well as Kevin Bakers legendary Irish Bingo and of course the usual raffle. The cost for a ticket is £10 if brought before the 10th May if you would rather purchase a ticket on the night this will set you back £15.
See any commitee member or your team manager to purchase a ticket.

9th April 2008 - Westies Lift First Senior Trophy
Wesfield lifted there first senior trophy tonight when they overcome Division One Sidley United in the final of the Hastings Senior Cup at the Gullivers.
Sidley who are fighting against relegation to Division Two were the form team in County One team amassing 16 points from the last 18 available giving them a great chance of staying up with two games remaining.
Westfield on the other hand are amongst the top sides looking for a top three finish in division two again, so a tight game was always on the cards. Chances were at a premium and it took an extra time penalty from former Sidley striker Peter Baker to ensure the Westies were lifting there first piece of silverware since becoming a senior club.

7th April 2008 - Top Three Finish Looking Unlikely
Following Saturdays defeat to fellow promotion rivals Rustington, Manager Steve Johnson conceded it will now be difficult to finish in the top three for the second season running. To read Steve's thoughts and a preview to Wednesday's Hastings Senior Cup Final against Division One Sidley United click here

5th April 2008 - Westies Come Away Empty Handed
Westfield made there first ever trip to Rustington's Jubilee Avenue Ground and came away empty handed after a first half Adam Bibb Penalty was enough to seperate two evenly matched sides, both of whom are looking to finish in the top 3, despite neither having met ground grading requirements for promotion to Division 1.
Steve Johnson's plans were thrown up in the air during the warm up, when Duncan Jones had to pull out after feeling the effects of a groin injury picked up against Seaford the previous week. Graham Morris stepped up from the bench to start in the middle of midfield alongside Lawrence Brand.
On a bobbly pitch and a strong gusty wind it made playing conditions difficult, the first half found the going tough for the visitors but second half were more on top with Morris wasting the best chance with a free header 12 yards out.
Attentions now turn to Wednesday Nights Hastings Senior Cup Final against Sidley United from Divsion One, where the Westies will look to lift there first ever senior trophy. Kick Off at the Gullivers home of Sidley United is 7:30pm.
The Reserves ended there campaign with a 3-1 defeat at home to title chasing Ringmer. Shaun Smith scoring the Wesies goal. At present the resevres lie in 3rd position but with many sides below them with games in hand it is difficult to say where they will end up. But in Darrol Parris's first season in charge at the helm assisted by Mark Cunningham, it can be seen as a very succesful season considering the team was built from scratch following John Lambert's departure last summer.
The Thirds recent good form came to an end when they went down 2-0 away to Heathfield.

4th April 2008 - Westies Looking To Turn Up The Heat
The Westies go into the final month of the season with still plenty to play for. A top three finish is still up for grabs, the prospect of scoring there highest number of points in a season and a cup final against Sidley United on Wednesday evening in the Hastings Senior Cup.
First up is a trip to third place Rustington (3pm kick off) who have suprised many this season on how well they have taken to Senior football following promotion from Divsion Three last season. They have however hit a blip of late so Steve Johnson will be hoping his men can take full advantage and enhance there own chances of finishing in the top 3.
Johnson has a number of absentee's from those on duty against Seaford last time out. Ben Ridgeway & James Carmen are definatley out thorugh injury and suspension repsectively and Paul Henty is struggling with work commitments but his hopeful of being available. Danny Pepper is again ruled out through his knee injury.
Squad in full:- Will Toal, David Miller, Carl Morris, Paul Henty, Tony Harris, Jamie Podmore, Graham Morris, Matt Dadswell, Alan Johnson, Duncan Jones, Lawrence Brand, Chris Smith, Sam Jamison, Dominic Clarke, Peter Baker, Tim Linch.
The reserves play there last game of the season when they host Ringmer Reserves at the Parish Field where they will be looking to halt there charge for the Reserve Section East Title. The hosts will also be looking for revenge for the reverse fixture 2 weeks ago where Ringmer triumphed by 9 goals to four. Kick Off at the Parish Field is 3pm.
31st March 2008 - Westies Keep Up The Pressure
Steve Johnson's men finished off there latest run of home games with another victory against a struggling Seaford side to keep up the pressur e for a top three finish.
Despite there league position you are always guranteed a tough battle against Duncan Knellers side and Will Toals first half penalty save may have been the spring board for this victory.
Shortly before half time the Westies took the lead through Dominic Clarke. Early in the second half Seaford grabbed an equalizer through Ben Dartnell, but deservedly the hosts went onto secure all 3 points with further goals from Duncan Jones and Alan Johnson.
The thirds continued there excellant recent form with a 6-0 win over Orington to move upto 6th in the table, this was thanksin the main to two Darrol Parris goals and further strikes from Jack Graham, Jon Haddock, Sam Archer and an own goal.
The reserves were out a game this weekend but return to action this week with there last league game of the season at home to Ringmer Reserves.
24th March 2008 - Todays Game At Wealden Is Off
This mornings League Game at Wealden has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, The next first team fixtutre is on Saturday when Seaford visit the Parish Field (3pm kick off).
22nd March 2008 - Baker Double Sets Westies On There WayAn entertaining afternoon at the Parish Field this afternoon saw the hosts come out on top in a seven goal encounter. Leading scorer Peter Baker notched is 18th League goal of the season within 3 minutes of the start.
Dominic Clarke added a second midway through the second and David Miller looked to have made the points safe with a trademark dribble and finish from the edge of his own box. Southwick's livewire striker Dean Venton pulled two back with 5 mins remaining to set up a nervy ending to the game, but further strikes from Chris Smith & Bakers 19th of the season wrapped up the victory.
Click Here For Southwick Match Report................
Next up for Steve Johnson's men is a trip to Wealden on Bank Holiday Monday (11am kick off). The same squad that was on duty against Southwick will travel, along with James Carmen, Graham Morris and Jamie Podmore who come in from the reserves.
The reserves came away from Ringmer today with there tails firmly between there legs having lost 9-4 despite the score being 3-3 at half time. Daroll Parris's men started sloppy again and were two nil down within ten minutes, but James Carmen pulled them back into the game with a virtuoso performance scoring two and assisting the other as the Westies went three two up just before half time there hard work was undone though when they conceeded a sloppy equalizer right on half time.
A poor all round second half performance saw a further 6 goals conceeded with only a fine indiviudal goal from Carmen to show. The reserves have the chance th gain there revenge when they face Ringmer in there next and final game at the Parish Field in two weeks time.
The Thirds followed up there superb 2-2 draw with runaway leaders The Wilton last weekend with a 3-2 victory away at Hastings Rangers thanks to goals from John Haddock , Billy Jo Driver & Chris Stonham.
19th March 2008 - Welcome Three Points
The Captains Log & Johno Jottings is now available. Skipper Tony Harris looks back at Saturdays hard fought victory over Littlehampton and looks forward to this weekends easter weekend games at home to Southwick and away to Wealden.
15th March 2008 - Westies Too Strong For Marigolds
Westfield overcome fellow promtion hopefuls Littlehampton Town thanks to a solitary Peter Baker strike midway through the first at the Parish Field this afternoon.
Steve Johnson had to shuffle his pack due to the unavalibilty of Alan Johnson & Duncan Jones which meant a recall for Carl Morris and a first team debut for up and coming starlet Jack Graham who started on the left hand side of midfield.
The victory moves the Westies up to 7th but with at least 2 games in hand on all the sides immediatley above them so still lots to play for.
The reserves were dealt a massive blow to there chances of finishing in the top two of the Reserve section east league when they conceeded a last minute goal to Wealden Reserves.
On a boggy pitch at the Oaks Wealden took a deserved lead in the first ten minutes against a Westfield side who had started very sloppy. That was the wake up call Darrol Parris's men need and from then on it was the visitors who controlled the game. They had to wait until early in the second half to get there just rewards when Andy Hales notched in 3rd goal in 3 games.
Parris himself headed the Westies in front with less than 5 minutes remaining, but against the run of play the hosts scored an unlikely equalizer. The draw coupled with St Francis's 15-0 demolition of Pease Pottage and Mile Oaks win over Ringmer means the reserves drop to third as Rangers take over top spot also with 4 games in hand.
The thirds pulled out a superb performance to draw with run away league leaders The Wilton 2-2.
14th March 2008 - Maximum Points From Home Games A Must
Manager Steve Johnson has targetted maximum points from there next three Saturday League fixtures which are all at the Parish Field starting with the visit of Littlehampton Town tomorrow (3pm Kick Off) who brushed the Westies a side on there own patch back in November by 4 goals to nil.
In between the run of home games there is the bank holiday 'local derby' with Wealden. Johnson feels however that his side need to pick up maximum points at home to give his side any chance of finishing in the top 6.
The side will be missing Duncan Jones and Alan Johnson who are both unavailable, Jamie Podmore returns to boost the reserves in there quest for a top three finish when they travel to Wealden Reserves (3pm Kick Off). James Carmen & Jack Graham have been added to the 1st team squad after impressing for the Reserves of late. Paul Oliver is back for the reserves.

1st Team Squad: Will Toal, Tom Dullaway, Tony Harris, David Miller, Paul Henty, Ben Ridgeway, Danny Pepper, Lawrence Brand, James Carmen Chris Smith, Peter Baker, Dominic Clarke, Jack Graham, Carl Morris, Shaun Hardy
8th March 2008 - Too Little To Late
The Westies paid there first visit to a wet and windy redeveloped Haven ground looking to dent the hosts promotion aspirations and enhance there own, but came away with nothing after going down 3-2. The Westies went in at the break one goal to good through Duncan Jones.
The start of the second half saw a three goal blitz early on from Crawley Down, it was only until the last 15 mins when the Westies started to excert any kind of pressure but it was too little to late despite Dominic Clarke lashing in a late equalizer to spark a frantic finish to the game.
The reserves pulled of a superb 1-0 victory over Mile Oak to complete a league double over the now second placed Mile Oak as Darrol Parris's charges have reached the summit of the reserve section east table. A first half goal from Andy Hales was enough to give the Westies the win. Mile Oak piled ion the pressure in the second half but the hosts stayed firm to secure the points.
The Thirds hosted Travaux and were on the end of a three two defeat in Division 5 of the East Sussex League.
7th March 2008 - Johnson Dealt Big Blow
Manager Steve Johnson was dealt a big blow last night when Mark Drinkwater (pictured) was ruled out of tomorrows game away at Crawley Down. The big centre half has failed to shake off a back injury which also forced him out of last weeks game with Midhurst & Easebourne, despite rumours he was suffering from Midhurst back!!!
The absence of Drinkwater is offset by the return to the squad of the unavailable Carl Morris from last week, and a welcome return to the first team fold for Jamie Podmore who has been building up his match fitness in the reserves following his return to the club after a brief spell at Division One Rye United. Peter Baker and Chris Smith are hopeful of shaking off minor knocks.
Jack Graham drops down to the reserves and Graham Morris also returns after being unavailable last time out and he will also have a run out with the reserves who face league leaders Mile Oak at the Parish Field in the top of the table clash (Kick Off 3pm).
Crawley Down are flying high in 4th position and still have an outside chance of promotion following major redevelopment work at the Haven which means there ground meets to required standard for promotion to county league division one. On Wednesday they bowed out of the John O'Hara Cup at the semi final stage 1-0 after extra time to higher grade opponents Shoreham, so Johnson will be hoping they are suffering a hangover from that defeat. Kick Off tomorrow is 3pm.
Squad: Will Toal, Tony Harris, David Miller, Paul Henty, Ben Ridgeway, Danny Pepper, Lawrence Brand, Duncan Jones, Chris Smith, Peter Baker, Dominic Clarke, Alan Johnson, Carl Morris, Jamie Podmore
6th March 2008 - Midhurst Was A Welcome Three Points
Manager Steve Johnson reflects on last Saturdays 1-0 victory over Midhurst & Easebourne and looks forward to the upcoming clash with fellow high flyers Crawley Down. Click on Link below to be taken there.
3rd March 2008 - Remaining Fixtures Announced
The remaining fixtures for the 2007/08 season have been published today, with a tough run in for Steve Johnson's troops, as they look to cement a place in the top 3 for the second season running and record there best points total ever.
The Hastings Senior Cup Final has been scheduled for Wednesday 9th April at the Gullivers the home of the opponents Sidley United who ply there trade in division One.
A full list of the First Team & Reserve Fixtures can be found by clicking here.
1st March 2008 - Jones Fires Westies To Victory
Duncan Jones grabbed the all important goal to make the long trip to Midhurst & Easebourne on Saturday worthwhile as they returned with all three points against a useful Midhurst outfit.
Meanwhile the reserves bounced back from there hammering at the hands of Pecehaven two weeks earlier with a 3-2 win over fellow title contenders Lingfield. On target were Darrol Parris, Andy Hales and a 45 yard special from James Carmen.
The third team went down 1-0 to Peche Hill at a wind swept and a bitterly cold Bexhill Road

Steve Johnson last night confirmed the signing of Graham Morris. Graham who had been plying his trade at local rivals Sidley United in division one of the county league joins his brother Carl as Johnson's squad is further strengthened.
Graham is equally comfortable across midfield or the backline, he is expecting to make his debut for the club in the reserves on Saturday as he has only just returned from holiday.

3rd September 2007 - Reserves Notch Up First Win
Darrol Parris claimed his first win as Reserve team boss with a deserved 4-1 victory at the Parish Field on Saturday.
Looking to bounce back from last weeks 4-3 defeat to Lingfield, the Westies were always on top against a useful but youthful Peacehaven side.
The Hosts took the lead midway through the first half when Parris put Duncan Jones though on goal who in turn hit a 30 yard dailsy cutter before hitting the notorious 'Westfield Bobble' and lifting past the stranded goal keeper, it was reminiscent of Stan Collymore's strike for Liverpool against Tim Flowers back in the late 90's!!
Westfield increased there lead 5 mins later when James Carmen's corner was flicked on by Parris and Jason Miller was there to riffle home to send the Westies in two goals to the good at half time.
At the start of the second half Parris at the chance to increase the home sides lead but fluffed the chances and were made to pay when Peachaven pulled a goal back.
The Westies not to be put off by conceeding went straight down the other end to restore there two goal advantage when Carmen put Parris away who finished with aplom.
In the dying moments the icing was put on the cake when Jones was fouled in the box, following a heated discusson between Jones & Carmen as to who was going to take the kick the latter stepped up to seal the victory.
There were good performances at the back from Ben Pepper on his debut and Darren Elliot, Carmen put in a hard working second half shift for the side and Jones continued his rehabilitation from injury with another 90 mins, not forgetting the evergreen player/manager who notched his 3rd and 4th goals of the season. There must also be a mention for George Driver who we think did not touch the ball on his debut.
Team:- Alvin Atkins, John Paul Brothy, Paul Oliver, Ben Pepper, Darren Elliot, Shaun Smith (Mark Cunningham), Shaun Hardy, Duncan Jones, James Carmen, Jason Miller (Jacob Archer), Darrol Parris (George Driver).

1st September 2007 - Westies Downed Again
Westfield slipped to there second successive defeat in all competitions when another disappointing display saw them slip to a 2-1 defeat against a Southwick side who had only racked up 1 out of a possible 15 before todays game.
The hosts scored either side of half time to go into a two nil lead before a late Dominic Clarke consolation led to a frantic finish which saw the Westies hit the woodwork.

31st August 2007 - Westies Looking To Get Back On Track
Manager Steve Johnson has a near full strength squad available for tomorrows trip to Southwick (3pm Kick Off) as the Westies look to get back on track after last weeks John O'Hara Cup exit at the hands of Whitehawk.
Southwick who claimed there first point of the season on Monday at the 5th time of asking will be looking to upset the form book and at least earn a repeat of last years scoreline at Old Barn Way when they held the Westies to a one all draw.
Gavin Bourne returns from injury and will make his first start of the season, Ashley Paine is the only absentee from the first team squad due to a foot injury whilst Duncan Jones continues his comeback from injury with another run out in the reserves.
The reserves will be looking to get there first points on the board under new boss Darrol Parris when they entertain Peacehaven at the Parish Field Kick Off 3pm.
